Vernon Soccer League Policies

1. General Conduct

- All players are expected to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, respect, and fair play. Abusive language, aggressive behavior, and unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.

- Respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and spectators is paramount. Any form of discrimination or harassment based on race, gender, age, religion, or ability is strictly prohibited.

2. Registration and Fees

- Players must complete the registration process and pay the required fees before participating in any league activities.

- Early bird pricing is available for a limited time. Players are encouraged to register early to take advantage of discounted rates.

- Refunds are not provided once the season begins, except in cases of serious injury or other extenuating circumstances, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

 3. Team Composition and Player Eligibility

- The league operates under a coed format. Each team must have a minimum of two players of each gender on their roster.

- There is no minimum gender participation requirement for each game; however, teams are encouraged to maintain balance.

- Players must be at least 18 years old to participate.

- Players may join as individuals or as part of a team. Teams will be formed to ensure balance and competitiveness.

 4. Game Rules and Format

- Games are self-officiated. Players are responsible for calling their own fouls and resolving disputes amicably.

- Standard soccer rules apply, with modifications for a 7v7 format to accommodate smaller field sizes.

- In the event of a disagreement on a rule or call, the team captains should meet to discuss and resolve the issue.

- If a team does not have enough players to start a game, they may borrow players from the opposing team or another team. This should be agreed upon by both team captains before the game begins.

5. Safety and Injuries

- Player safety is a top priority. In the event of inclement weather or unsafe field conditions, games may be canceled or rescheduled. Players will be notified via email and social media.

- All players are required to wear appropriate footwear and shin guards to reduce the risk of injury.

- Any player with a serious injury must seek medical attention and may not return to play until cleared by a medical professional.

 6. Code of Conduct Violations

- Any player who violates the league's code of conduct may be subject to disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion from the league.

- Repeated aggressive behavior, unsportsmanlike conduct, or failure to comply with league policies will result in disciplinary measures.

- The league organizer reserves the right to take any necessary actions to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

 7. Feedback and Suggestions

- The league values player feedback and encourages suggestions for improving the overall experience. Players can submit feedback via email or during league meetings.

- The league may hold periodic meetings with team representatives to discuss potential changes and improvements.

 8. Miscellaneous

- The league reserves the right to modify these policies at any time. Players will be notified of any changes via email and the league website.

- All players must sign a waiver acknowledging the inherent risks of participating in soccer and releasing the league from liability for any injuries or damages.
